miniWRITER version 1.73 doesn’t have any new features (since 1.61), but it’s a little smaller and imperceptibly faster. Most importantly, it has an icon family for System 7.0, and is compatible with the Quadra cache. It also fixes a bug with [Save for new document] from the Options dialog (by the way, it’s a good idea to choose your standard font, then click [Save for new document] in the Options dialog).
SYSTEM 7 USERS
Just drop miniWRITER onto your System folder (or drag it out of a window to the desktop if you’d rather double-click to open it).
SYSTEM 6 USERS
Because of its new icon, you can’t install this version of miniWRITER by double-clicking on its icon. You’ll have to start Font/DA Mover, and hold the [Option] key while clicking Open. This brings up a list of all files, not just suitcase files. From this list, open and install miniWRITER normally.
